Speaker training in front of a television camera at Gezuda school

Who We Are

Gezuda started in 2021 in Manchester as a small training room above a shop on Cheetham Hill Road. The founder, a former regional broadcast reporter, had spent years coaching colleagues before an interview or a live segment and kept getting asked the same question: where can someone learn this properly, outside a newsroom? That gap became the starting point for a school built specifically around speaking on camera and in front of an audience.

Five years on, the school works with 17 trainers and coaches covering 14 separate services, from voice control to full mock television interviews. In that time, 425 clients have come through the door for 799 completed sessions and projects. A little over a third of them, 136 people, came back for a second round of coaching once they had a new role, a new programme, or a public event to prepare for.

Mission and Approach

The mission is straightforward: prepare people to speak clearly and hold their ground in front of a camera or a live audience, without turning the process into something vague or mysterious. Sessions are built around practice - recorded segments, feedback, repeat takes - rather than theory alone. Clients across Manchester and the surrounding areas book sessions for job interviews, media appearances, conference talks, and internal company presentations.

Requests are usually answered within an hour, and the school covers three districts around the city, so most first meetings can happen in person rather than only online.

What We Value

Direct feedback over vague praise. Practice on camera rather than lectures about theory. Sessions planned around each client's actual event - a job panel, a broadcast slot, a conference stage - rather than a fixed generic course. And plain scheduling: clear pricing, clear session length, no surprise add-ons.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Our Public Speaking and On-Camera Training

Below are answers to the questions we hear most often from people in Manchester considering a course with Gezuda. If your question is not covered here, use the contact form above and we typically reply within an hour during working hours.

Our courses are built around three areas: voice and diction, body language on camera, and structuring a message for broadcast. Sessions include recorded practice in front of a camera, playback review, and one-to-one feedback from an instructor. Depending on the course you choose, you will also cover interview technique, handling live questions, and adapting your delivery for different formats such as panel discussion or a short news segment.

No prior experience is required. Our 14 course formats are built for different starting points, from people who have never spoken on camera to professionals preparing for a specific broadcast appearance. During the first session, an instructor assesses your current level and adjusts the pace of the programme so the exercises match where you are starting from.

Our training studio is located at 165 Cheetham Hill Road, Manchester, M21 7WT. We currently serve three areas around the city, and this address is where the on-camera practice room and recording setup are based. If a session is arranged at a different location for a client project, this is agreed in advance and confirmed by email.

We are open Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 19:00. We are closed on Saturday and Sunday. Sessions can be booked at any point during opening hours, and we generally recommend booking a week in advance to secure a slot that fits your schedule, particularly for evening times which tend to fill first.

Our typical reply time is within one hour during working hours. If you submit the contact form outside of Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 19:00, we will reply as soon as we reopen. You can also call +44 161 470 5254 or write to [email protected] directly if your question is urgent.

Gezuda was founded in 2021, so we have been teaching public speaking and on-camera presentation for five years. Over that time we have worked with 425 clients across 799 completed sessions and projects. Our current team consists of 17 people, including instructors and production support for the recording exercises.

Not exclusively. While many of our exercises are built around broadcast formats, the underlying skills apply to conference talks, internal company presentations, video content for a business, and interviews for local radio or online media. Clients come to us with different goals, and the coaching is adjusted to the format they actually need to prepare for.

This depends on the course you choose. Short-format courses focused on a single upcoming appearance, such as a job interview or a media segment, typically run over three to four sessions. Longer programmes covering voice, body language and interview technique together are structured over eight to ten sessions, spread across several weeks so there is time to practise between meetings.

Both formats are available among our 14 services. One-to-one sessions allow the instructor to focus entirely on your delivery, pace and specific goals, which suits people preparing for a defined appearance. Small group sessions, usually four to six participants, are useful for practising discussion, handling interruptions, and getting comfortable speaking while others are watching, which mirrors a real broadcast environment.

You are recorded delivering a short piece, answering a mock interview question, or responding to a simulated panel discussion. The footage is played back immediately, and the instructor points out specific details: pacing, filler words, posture, eye contact with the lens, and how the message lands within the time available. This cycle of recording and review is repeated so you can see the change between the first and later takes.

Yes, this is one of our more common requests. If you have a defined date, such as a broadcast interview, a public talk, or an important internal presentation, tell us the details when you contact us and we will put together a short, focused plan aimed at that specific event rather than a full multi-week course.

We work with both. A number of our completed projects have been for small and mid-sized businesses around Manchester preparing spokespeople, managers or founders for media appearances, staff briefings, or promotional video content. For organisations, we can arrange sessions for several employees across a shared schedule, either at our studio on Cheetham Hill Road or at a client site by prior agreement.

An accent is not something we ask clients to remove. Our focus is on clarity, pacing and breath control, so that your natural voice is easy to follow on a recording or in a live room. Exercises target enunciation and volume control rather than changing how you sound, and most clients keep their accent throughout the course.

Out of 425 clients we have worked with since 2021, 136 have returned for a second course or project, often ahead of a new role, a new appearance, or simply to refresh specific skills after some time away from regular speaking. Many of these return clients start with a shorter refresher session rather than a full course.

The quickest way is the contact form near the top of this page. You can also call +44 161 470 5254 or email [email protected] directly. We will ask a few questions about your goal, your available times during our Monday to Friday hours, and whether you are looking for a one-off session or a longer course, then suggest a starting point.

Most courses include short practice tasks between sessions, such as recording yourself on a phone reading a short script, or rehearsing answers to likely interview questions. These take between ten and twenty minutes and are reviewed briefly at the start of the following session. Practice between meetings is one of the main factors in how much progress you notice by the end of a course.

Managing nerves is covered through practical exercises rather than general advice. This includes breathing techniques used just before recording, a set routine for the first thirty seconds of speaking, and repeated practice in front of the camera so the situation feels less unfamiliar. For most clients, the sense of nervousness reduces gradually across several sessions rather than disappearing after one.

Nothing specific is required. If you already have a script, presentation, or list of likely interview questions related to your goal, bringing it along helps the instructor tailor the first session to your actual situation. Otherwise, we use standard warm-up material for the initial assessment, and any personal material can be brought in from the second session onward.

We currently cover three areas in and around Manchester. Our studio at 165 Cheetham Hill Road is the main location for sessions, but for group or corporate bookings we can discuss arrangements closer to your own premises within the areas we serve. Mention your location when you contact us and we will confirm whether on-site training is practical for your case.
